Based around a rugged and durable industrial PC, it features a built-in dual W-LAN and provides expansion slots for 2G and 3G RF modules. A truly modular architecture

The S-CAT 6000 series hosts multiple RF modules that can be operated separately - or simultaneously. It is made up of four slots, two of which can take either 2G or 3G module and remaining two slots can be fit with a 2G RF module. The 2G RF modules support GSM, GPRS and EDGE and are available for 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz bands. The 3G RF modules support UMTS bands l, ll and V which are available at 2100, 1900 and 850 MHz. setcom also protects all your investments in RF testing hardware since the S-CAT 6000 series seamlessly integrates with a wide range of external RF units via software drivers, regardless of what RF bearer technology you are using, whether it is CDMA 2000, LTE or TD-SCDMA. With the S-CAT 6000 series, you can use any combination of internal RF modules and external RF units providing the widest variety of RF bearers on the market.
 
 
 
Software Optioning
 
The S-CAT 6000 series unit can be used for all setcom S-CAT software products and test tools. According to specific testing needs and requirements, the user can simply select the desired test software modules and S-CAT software options.  The system is then ready for use after the software installation and configuration processes.  The picture below shows the most common software and hardware options available for the S-CAT 6000 series.  For example, if the user requires MMS and VT testing applications, the software options 6020 AE Tester OP SW, MMS, VT and applicable AE Test Cases are installed into the S-CAT 6000 Main Unit.

Research & Development testing

Complex test scenarios involving GERAN, UTRAN and UMA/GAN signalling layers such as dual mode and dual band handovers through to the testing of multiple applications at the same time are simple and intuitive on the S-CAT 6000 series. Moreover, detailed protocol logs and traces at every layer are originated. Performance analysis such as end-to-end data throughput can be graphed showing average/peak data rates, audio loopback and transfer of raw GSM voice frames or UMA/GAN RTP frames to an external audio analyser over an IP interface. This assists in analysing drop outs between handovers and battery life performance testing. The S-CAT 6000 series is the perfect choice for new feature testing of the IMS Call and Session Control Procedures as well as the testing of VoIP, SIP, secure IP connectivity such as IPSec or AAA authentication algorithms and security gateways.

 

Conformance and Certification testing

The S-CAT 6000 series supports the broadest portfolio of Application Enablers required for device certification with the most comprehensive level of 3GPP GAN signalling test cases. New areas of functionality include OMA SUPL, BCAST and 3GPP IMS Call Control plus RoHC. Using the highly acclaimed S-CAT Graphical User Interface (GUI) client, remote testing is easily performed over a LAN connection enabling simultaneous multiple users thereby maximising investment and reducing the time to market. The GUI client can run individual test cases at the click of a button, create test case campaigns and PICS files can be simply saved and edited. A full protocol log of all the signalling sent and received to the device can be produced for each test case run. Device automation is also a core feature of the S-CAT 6000 series enabling long test runs over the evening or weekends without the need of user control and interaction.
