NEWS– Java test development platform for Mobile Devices

wireless products Ltd., (Malta) announced that it has released forty (40) test case scripts for Java on its application
test platform (S-CAT). The Java test
procedures have been accepted by PTCRB (as defined by the JSR Test Group) and test
execution is now mandatory. The Java
test platform is an essential tool for development labs and certification labs
to ensure conformance to Industry standards.
Examples of the testing the Java environment:
- Data reliability, for example; the UE turned off or loss of battery, ensure consistency of data on the UE memory and removable memory
- Support for simultaneous key presses
- Download and install a MIDlet of different JAD/JAR sizes Launch a browser through Platform Request Test video playback performance (rendering rate)
- Verify that MIDlets can be installed and executed in the UE menu. For example, download high quality banking application MIDlets and perform secured online banking activities.
With the addition of Java, the S-CAT platform now supports the testing of ten (10) multimedia mobile applications (MMS,VT, PoC, DM, IMPS, DRM, Browsing, Streaming, e-Mail,) and encompasses five hundred plus (500+) tests for mobile multimedia applications. These applications may also be tested over wireless LAN (W-LAN) protocols on UMA/GAN.

Java testing is applicable to 3G Americas compliant Java Devices as defined in "GSMNA Java Test Requirements for 3G Americas Java Technical Recommendations, rev.1.23 from January, 7, 2007.
